Happy Monday folks! Today, I wanted to share some candid photographs from my collection that were taken during Liberace and George’s joint performance at a Los Angeles Press Club event in 1954.

First founded in 1913, the Los Angeles Press Club is a journalism organization which exists to “support, promote, and defend quality journalism in Southern California.”1 While I wasn’t able to find much information about what specific Press Club event Liberace and George were performing at in 1954, inscriptions on the back of the photos indicate that it was attended by former child star Delmar Watson, LA restaurateur Bill Binder, and various journalists from across the country.

For their part, George and Liberace arrived at the event dressed in matching black dress suits with silk stripe accents. The backing band insignias on stage also appear to indicate that George and Liberace were performing with musicians from band leader Manny Harmon’s famous orchestra – an interesting combination!

If you have any additional information about this LA Press Club show, feel free to drop me a line! You can also view full-sized scans of these photos on my Dropbox linked here.
Enjoy!
