Liberace’s New Year’s Resolutions (December 26th, 1954)

Happy New Year! 💫 On December 26th, 1954, Liberace gave his New Year’s thanks and resolutions in a column for The Boston Globe.

“This old year has been a fine and happy one for me, as it hope it has for you,” Liberace wrote. “I spent the year doing what I like best in the whole world, bringing music into people’s lives, and most of the time I was surrounded by my wonderful family and loyal friends.”

Liberace also thanked his “critics” and detractors for their “constructive advice” and for “reminding [him] that a performer must never relax but keep working towards improvement.” In the new year, Liberace vowed to “visit as many cities as [he could] manage,” tour Europe, live by “honesty and integrity,” and to “play as best I can at all times.”
